‘Spare a Little Time’ is the new fundraising initiative to raise the £250,000 which is required to rebuild Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice’s boiler house, purchase a new boiler and update the Hospice’s integrated heating system.
By doing this, Dr. Kershaw’s will be more energy efficient, heating costs will be lower and our carbon footprint will be substantially reduced.
Earlier phases of our Extending Care Programme have almost doubled the size of the Hospice. Consequently, the demands on our existing boiler are stretching it to its limits. It is still working but not efficiently and running an inefficient boiler is having an adverse effect on our costs.
It makes sense to start our Phase 4 development now, rather than take the inherent risks of running the existing boiler over the next few years. By building the new boiler room and fitting a new, efficient heating system now, everyone at Dr. Kershaw’s will see immediate benefits. We will be heating the Hospice more efficiently, providing a better more manageable heating system for patients and staff, and cutting the annual fuel bill for heating the Hospice by 20%.
Anyone can buy ‘Time’ in making a donation to Dr. Kershaw’s Extending Care Appeal.
If you join together with a group of friends, or as a school, organisation or business, you could buy an hour or even a whole day!
The Hospice also has to raise a further £1,350,000 each year to cover the cost of providing ongoing care and maintain our high level of services for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
Every donation is welcome whatever the amount. When it comes to helping the Hospice, please remember that – every second counts!
When ‘Time is Money’ – how much care do patients get for your money?
- A donation of £14 will pay for 5 minutes of care
- A donation of £167 will pay for 1 hour of care
- A donation of £4,000 will cover a whole day
