Drivers: Ambulance: Wednesdays 9-11am & 3-5pm (approximately)
Are you confident behind the wheel and do you enjoy driving? We are currently seeking volunteer drivers between the ages of 25 and 70 to join our patient transport pool. Full training will be given, including a MIDAS qualification
Drivers: Hospice Van: Wednesday mornings
Do you enjoy being ‘out and about’? Could you help us move stock between our busy charity shops, working with one of our drivers’ mates? Full training will be given.
Reception Volunteers: Weekends and some evenings in the week
Our volunteer receptionists provide a warm and friendly welcome for all visitors and users of the hospice, as well as providing a helpful response to enquiries in person and over the phone.
When? Ideally a minimum of one shift per week Monday – Sunday 9am-12 noon, 12-3pm, 3-6pm or 6-9pm.
Hospice Services & Catering: Weekday Afternoons 2.30 4pm , Early Evenings 4.30-6.30pm
Could you help with serving, afternoon teas and suppers to our in-patients and in day hospice? Hospice Services Volunteers also operate a ward retail trolley. No experience is needed as full training will be given.
Hairdressing: Monday – Thursday on a casual basis
Qualified hairdressers provide welcoming pampering for our day care and in-patients at the hospice. If you could spare a few hours on an ad-hoc basis, we would love to hear from you.
Gardening: Mondays & Tuesdays
Have you got green fingers? Your help in keeping our grounds and garden looking good throughout the season would be really welcome.

Help required in our new and existing charity shops in Chadderton, Lees, Oldham, Royton & Shaw
When? Monday – Saturday, a minimum of 4 hours either 10-2pm or 1pm – 4.30pm
Oldham: Monday – Saturday pm, Tuesday am
Shaw: Tuesday pm, Friday and Saturday am & pm
Royton: Monday/Friday/Saturday am, Wednesday & Friday pm
This volunteer role supports the operation of our shops, with the purpose of maximising sales, profitability and the positive perception of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Our shop volunteers tell us they enjoy the fantastic teamwork at the stores and knowing that everything they raise supports patient care. This can be a physically demanding and fast paced role as it includes sorting and pricing goods, moving stock, merchandising and using a till.
Volunteers are also being actively recruited for our shops at Oldham, Shaw, Chadderton and in Royton Precinct.

We have lots of events throughout the year when we need extra help. If you like meeting people, enjoy fundraising and would like to join our events team to help with any of the following types of events, or similar, please contact us. This is a really flexible role where you can make a real impact for patient care in just a few hours!
Typical events are: Sales Stalls at outside events; acting as Marshalls at events, helping to organise events; selling tickets; distributing posters; bucket/can collections. It could include working early mornings and late evenings, as well as weekends, on an ad-hoc basis.
