Back by popular demand…the Adventure Based Learning, Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice!

Sign up today to take part in this 24 mile, 12 hours, 3 peaks adventure and walk your way to making a difference to the patients in our care.

Starting and finishing your hiking tour in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, in picturesque Horton-in-Ribblesdale, this challenge starts early to take on a full-day hill walk. The circular route is around 24 miles (39km) and will see you climb to the summits of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The challenge is to complete the walk within 12 hours and qualified and experienced guides will be with you every step of the way, as this experience is brought to you by Mark Hilton at Adventure Based Learning.

Time:        Meet 7.45am, ready for 8am start!

Start:        The Golden Lion Hotel, Horton in Ribblesdale, Nr Settle, North Yorks, BD24 OHB.

Parking:    Available behind the hotel or other locations nearby. 

Parking is limited so car share where possible and arrive early to avoid disappointment.


£35 per person + a suggested minimum sponsorship of £100 per walker

Your fee includes: 

·         Expert advice from Adventure Based learning to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge (Y3P)

·         A risk assessed challenge experience, guided by insured and trained expert Mark Hilton.

Your fee does not include: Food and drinks, transport to and from the challenge and/or training event, pre/post walk accommodation, walking equipment.

Training walk: The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is not a stroll in the park – it’s a serious challenge walk through rough terrain with some scrambling and rocky areas to negotiate.  It is imperative that every participant has a good level of fitness and trains to take on the Y3P Challenge.  With this in mind, Mark Hilton is providing a local training day on 22nd May for participants to train on the Saddleworth 3 Peaks, free of charge. This 15 mile route takes on Indian’s Head, Pots ’n’ Pans and Wharmton and will give you a good grounding when it comes to what to expect of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks….just 9 miles shorter!

Suggested Kit List: Well-worn in walking boots, walking socks, base layers , shorts, tights, rain and wind proof jacket, fleece or warm jumper, hat, gloves, scarf, back pack, drinks bottle, prescribed medication if applicable, mobile phone, change of clothes ie: socks, t-shirts, base layer.
