The festive period is a time of year when we remember those who are no longer with us and the difference they made to our lives. Our Light Up a Life service is for those who would like to join together with their local community to celebrate the special people who have helped to light up their life, no matter their faith, culture or connection to the Hospice.
Our annual Light Up a Life service is unique as it allows you to remember your lost loved ones in a positive way. Your participation is not only a symbol of your remembrance, but a way to show your support to those in need in your community during the festive period.
Every December, Light Up a Life brings together families and friends to remember loved ones during an evening service in the grounds of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. During the service, our dedication tree is illuminated with each light representing a life. For this year, due to continuing Covid measures at the Hospice, we are unable to hold our regular in-person event. However, we are looking forward to next year, when our new landscaped gardens will be complete and we can come together once again for this special event with the community. Our virtual service proved so popular last year that we wanted to give everyone from Oldham, and our wider community, the opportunity to once again take part.
Bringing the community of Oldham, and beyond, together this December we are hosting a virtual service online on Sunday 5th December at 7pm, and hope that you will join with your family, friends, and neighbours to take part in the Light Up a Life service, to remember those who are in your thoughts during the festive period.
This years’ service will be available online via our Hospice Facebook and YouTube pages and will also be available to listen to on Oldham Community Radio 99.7FM following the successful feedback of our 2020 online service.
When you dedicate a light in memory of those that you love, you will receive a dedication card along with our Light Up a Life at home pack which includes everything you need to enjoy the service from the comfort of your own home.
Please note. All dedications must be made by Friday 19th November to be included in our online Book of Remembrance, and on screen on the evening of Sunday 5th December.
