Light Up a Life, Sunday 3rd December 2023 - 5pm

Come together at our multi-faith Light Up a Life service, to remember your loved ones this festive season and to celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us, but are always in our thoughts, whether they received care from our Hospice or not.

Join us at our special Light Up a Life service, taking place virtually and in-person at Dr Kershaw's Hospice on Sunday 3rd December 2023 at 5pm (gates will open 30 minutes before the service), to remember your loved ones whilst also supporting your local hospice.

The festive period can often be a difficult time for those who have lost loved ones. Our annual Light Up a Life service is unique; as it enables our community to remember their loved ones in a positive way with their participation being not only a symbol of remembrance, but a way to show support to those in need in the community during the festive period.

It is our pleasure to be able to invite you to the Hospice for our in-person service, where we can stand side by side with each of you as our Light Up a Life dedication tree is poignantly lit, to remember each person we have lost, and hold dear to our hearts. Everyone in our community is invited to remember someone in this special way, whether or not you have a connection to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

Our 30-minute service will include readings and vocal performances, along with the switching on of our beautiful tree lights. Tea and coffee will be offered afterwards in Café K, and Hospice stalls will also be available for you to peruse on the evening. Please note, the car park will be closed for the event, with street parking available or you are able to park at Newbank Garden Centre (until 7.30pm when they lock their gates).

If you are unable to attend the in-person event at our Hospice, you will still be able to access the live service virtually via our Facebook and YouTube pages or on Oldham Community Radio 99.7FM. If you have made a dedication and opted to view the service virtually, you should have been sent a Light Up a Life at Home Pack including instructions on how to view / listen to the service, a dedication card with your loved ones names, an Order of Service, a cut-out star to hang on your tree or somewhere special to you and a tea light candle to light during the service in memory of those you dear.

All dedications should have received a personalised dedication card with your loved ones name(s) and a dedication star will be hung on our tree in the Hospice. Those attending our in-person service will also receive an Order of Service at the event.

Dedications...

The deadline for dedications was Monday 27th November 2023 to be included in our Book of Remembrance and on-screen during the virtual service. It is still possible to make a dedication and have a star on one of our trees but please note any names received now won't be in our Book of Remembrance or onscreen during the virtual service.

To make a dedication please call our Fundraising Team on 0161 624 9984.
