The Senior Management Team provides strategic leadership at the Hospice and are responsible to the Board of Trustees for the development of future plans and the strategic direction of the Hospice.
The Senior Management Team (SMT) meets on a weekly basis and regularly reviews and monitors day to day aspects of Hospice management, provides strategic leadership, considers future plans and developments, and deals with issues referred from staff or the general public.

Providing professional leadership for, and strategic management of, the Hospice function, ensuring safe and effective running of the business within the resources available. Dr Matthias Hohmann
Medical Director

Dr Hohmann started his work as a doctor for the NHS in 1999, before becoming a GP and then Medical Director at the Hospice. He is one of the Senior Doctors at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. His role as Medical Director is to lead the team of Hospice Doctors efficiently and provide medical, clinical and managerial leadership to the Hospice. He works closely with health and care professionals across Oldham and Greater Manchester and chairs the Oldham Palliative Care Locality MDT. He has a passion for innovation and quality improvement, relentlessly striving to make Dr Kershaw’s Hospice the best it can be. He is in charge of training and supervision of junior doctors. As the Hospice’s Caldicott Guardian, he advises on information governance, confidentiality and data security.

Lindsey Harper
Director of Clinical Services

Lindsey leads and coordinates the Hospice’s entire clinical services including the Inpatient Unit, community services (Hospice at Home and Caring Hands), our Wellbeing Centre, Bereavement Support and the delivery of our Complementary Therapies programme. Lindsey liaises with external organisations and promotes collaborative working with the Hospice.

Rebecca Bentham
Director of Income Development and Marketing

Rebecca is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of Income Development and Marketing and Communications. Delivering a fundraising portfolio of corporate, community and individual giving, trusts and foundations grant giving, major donor and legacy giving, a retail and trading operation which incorporates e-commerce, a weekly lottery programme, and an annual calendar of events.
Combining fundraising with marketing and communications as one department enables the Hospice to: strengthen engagement with its supporters; breakdown the barriers and misunderstandings of what Hospice care is; support people living with life limiting illnesses; and promote our extensive range of clinical services available for patients.
The NHS only fund one third of the Hospice’s £5.3million annual budget, and the Income Development Department is responsible for raising the remaining two thirds. Rebecca ensures that all fundraising practices are ethical and align with the Fundraising Regulator’s and Charity Commission’s codes of practices, and all data is protected under the Data Protection Act 2018, and under GDPR and PECR regulations.
Previous Experience:
With over eighteen years’ experience, Rebecca has gained direct leadership and management experience within the cultural, voluntary, and charity sectors. She has wide ranging fundraising experience having worked as a cross fundraiser, but her specialty lies in that of Major Donor Giving. Previous roles have included Scope, Liverpool Cathedral, and the Science Museum Group.

Lyndsey Donbavand

As Corporate Services Manager Lyndsey’s role is to provide leadership and guidance for the Health & Safety, Facilities, Housekeeping, Reception and Catering departments at the Hospice. This includes performance and priority management to ensure all activities and services levels within Corporate Services are maintained and proactively developed.
Lyndsey is the Hospice Accountable Officer, Health & Safety Officer and a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Sarah Longmore
End of Life Nurse Educator

Sarah is responsible for education and training at the Hospice, primarily of the Clinical Team but she is also supports with the mandatory training of all Hospice staff. Sarah supports the Nursing Team in meeting their training requirements by ensuring they have access to the latest clinical and hospice care training to enable them to provide outstanding care for our patients. Sarah’s role also involves highlighting ways to develop and improve practice, providing management and training on less routinely used clinical skills to embed confidence within the team. Sarah also assists the Director of Clinical Services in delivering training to teams external to the Hospice.

Kelly is in charge of a 12-bedded IPU, providing specialist symptom management for palliative patients and individualised end of life care for each patient. She is responsible for the day-to-day running of the unit, ensuring that high quality, compassionate care is consistently provided to all patients and their families. She is part of the senior nursing team and she identifies opportunities for improvement, planning and implementing relevant changes.

Kathryn Harding
Wellbeing Centre Manager

Kat is responsible for the development and management of our Wellbeing services. Along with her team, which includes our Counselling, Complementary Therapy and Bereavement Support Services, Kat is responsible for providing psychological and practical support to people living with life-limiting illness, and their families, carers and significant people.
