Could you spare a few hours to support patient care or raise vital funds for your local hospice?

Whether you’re looking for a good way to use some spare time or to develop your skills, volunteering for Dr Kershaw’s can be extremely rewarding… and fun! In return for your time, we’ll offer you training and support as well as invites to social events.

We can also provide you with a reference if you are job seeking or studying after you have volunteered for at least 6 months.

At our Shops in Lees, Royton , Shaw & Our New Furniture Hub! 

Retail Assistant based at our Shaw Shop - We require volunteers to help in our Shaw Shop on Monday, Wednesday Thursday afternoon and Friday mornings and Saturday Afternoon.

Retail Assistant based at our Lees Shop - We require volunteers to help in our Lees Shop on Mondays.

Retail Sorters based at our new Furniture Hub– Do you prefer a more behind the scenes role? Could you help sift through the donations we receive whilst having a catch up with your fellow volunteers?

Showroom Assistants based at our new Furniture Hub – Are you a “handy person” able to fix furniture (replace or tighten screws, rebuild furniture, inspect and make furniture safe to sell)  if you could spare a few hours a week, we would love to hear from you.

At the Hospice on Turf Lane, Royton

Complementary Therapies – To provide Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Therapeutic Massage and Reiki to patients and for staff well-being days –  Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (10am-12, 2pm-4pm, 6pm-7pm). For complimentary therapy treatments for DRKH staff Monday between the hours of 10am – 7pm..

Cafe Assistant - We are looking for volunteers who can support, serving refreshments and being a friendly face. Initially the café will only be open to patients, their approved visitors and staff. Full training will be provided. Could you give a few hours of your time to add to the experience of our patients in our modern, relaxed café?

Event Volunteers

Set Up Crew, Route Marshalls & Site Supervisors.

Have fun and make a massive difference in just a few hours. Whether you enjoy the buzz of helping a big event to run well, or want to make a huge impact, events volunteering can be a really satisfying way to make a difference.

Patient Drivers

Could you help transport our patients to their appointments with us? We are always recruiting for volunteers who are happy to use their own vehicles or have a D1 on their license and fancy driving our minibus.

Van Drivers & Drivers Mates

Driver’s Mates – Can you take on this physically demanding role, collecting and delivering furniture to members of the public? Driver’s mates don’t need to be able to drive, but extra drivers are always welcome!

Some roles at the Hospice are subject to a standard or enhanced DBS check due to contact with vulnerable people. Declaring that you have a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with us, but please be prepared to discuss this in confidence with us when you apply.
