Patient Drivers Needed for Exciting New Partnership!
We are looking for volunteer drivers to get involved and support our patients via a partner organisation, HMR Circle.
This fantastic organisation work across a number of boroughs running patient driving services and are partnering with us to support our patients to access the Wellbeing Centre. This does mean that we will no longer be registering patient drivers at Dr Kershaw’s and we will be encouraging anyone who would like to support us as a patient driver to contact HMR Circle directly and register your interest, as all patient drivers will need to be signed up with them in order to be timetabled in.
Volunteer drivers will use their own vehicles to provide a door-to-door, flexible, transport service with passengers picked up from their own home and taken to the Hospice, with return journeys also provided. For each journey, a contribution is calculated at 45p per mile – to reimburse the driver for the cost of petrol and to support the costs of insuring and maintaining their vehicles.
All drivers will be DBS checked with vehicle checks taking place on information including MOT, insurance and driving licence. Each driver will be issued with a branded hi-vis vest and identifying badge and branded lanyard.
If you have any questions or would like to register your interest, you can do so by emailing HMR Circle directly on mary@hmrcircle.org.uk
Can you take on this physically demanding role, collecting and delivering furniture to members of the public? Driver’s mates don’t need to be able to drive, but extra drivers are always welcome!
This role is based out of our Furniture Hub.
If you have a specific skillset that you feel Dr Kershaw's would benefit from, we would love to hear from you!
Great! You can register your interest here.
If you’d like to know more about becoming a volunteer and supporting care at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, please contact our Volunteer Team on volunteerdept@drkh.org.uk or 0161 624 2727.
Some roles at the Hospice are subject to a standard or enhanced DBS check due to contact with vulnerable people. Declaring that you have a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with us, but please be prepared to discuss this in confidence with us when you apply.
