The Dr Kershaw’s Cup - Golf Day
Thank you to everyone who supported our Golf Day on Friday 13th September 2024!
We are thrilled that our Golf Day raised £7,663, a fantastic amount which will
help to support so many patients and their families across the local community.
The Dr Kershaw's Cup 2024 Winners: Team St John's
The Golf Day teed off with breakfast, a welcome and a shotgun start before golfers started their 18 holes, followed by halfway house refreshments, a buffet meal, official prize presentation and a raffle with all proceeds going to the Hospice, and the top prize of a 40” JVC Smart TV up for grabs. The action-packed day also saw a number of challenges also take place including the longest yard, nearest the pin and the HSBC target challenge.
With 19 teams competing to be crowned the Dr Kershaw's Cup Champions, one lucky team captained by Dr Kershaw’s very doctor, Dr Jimmy Killeen lifted the coveted trophy at the end.
Dr Jimmy Killeen, Captain of the winning team said: “It was the first time I had attended The Dr Kershaw’s Cup and it was a great day out with my team mates. The course was good, the hospitality was great as was the organisation from the Dr Kershaw’s team and the volunteers supporting were lovely. We were very surprised but very happy to win and will be back to defend our title next year! My role sees me supporting patients on the Inpatient Unit at the Hospice on a daily basis and I feel very privileged and very lucky to work in such a great environment. Every day I see first-hand how the money from the Golf Day will help and make such a difference to our patients and their loved ones, it means so much to take part to support the Hospice.”
