Your support really does mean so much and has enabled us to provide specialist care and support for our patients and their families across the local community.
Thank you to our four supporting solicitors: Wrigley Claydon Solicitors, O'Donnell Solicitors, Northern Law Solicitors and Pearson. Without them Will Month simply wouldn't be possible. Our patients and their families truly do appreciate it.
Thank you for Making a Will and Making a Difference.
A Last Will and Testament is your way of telling everyone what should happen to your money, possessions and property after you pass away. If you don't leave a Will, the law decides how your estate is passed on, which might not be in line with your wishes.
Dr Kershaw’s Will Month is your opportunity to set out your wishes, which could include making sure your loved ones are provided for financially; protecting your partner if you are unmarried or even set out who will look after your children or even your pets.
Each November, during Will Month, selected local solicitors offer to help you write your simple* Will, giving their expertise free of charge.
Participating solicitors will ask instead that you make a difference by making a donation towards patient care at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
You will be able to write or update your Will in return for a suggested donation of £125 for a Simple Individual Will or £175 for a Simple Mirror Will for a couple, providing you with a substantial saving in comparison to the standard fees for these services.*
*The solicitors taking part in the scheme are waiving their fees for simple Wills. If yours is more complex there may also be an additional fee to pay them. Your solicitor will be able to advise you of this – please discuss this with them when you make your appointment.
Our Hospice relies heavily upon our wonderful community with donations in the form of Legacies, which enable us to fund vital care to our patients and their families at a time when they need us the most. Leaving a gift in your Will of even 1% to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice means your generosity will live on for generations to come, and ensures those closest to you receive the remaining 99%.
If you would like to be a part of our Will Month, there is no obligation to leave a Legacy in your Will, should you choose to do so, you can be assured your gift will stand as a lasting reminder of your generosity. Of course, with the surge in property prices more and more homeowners are now in the Inheritance Tax Band. A gift to your chosen charity can actually reduce the amount you may have to pay or even avoid altogether.
Your solicitor will be able to provide you with expert advice in this area.
