Sign up for one of Dr Kershaw’s 2022 challenges – take on a Sky Dive or climbing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks!

With 2022 in full flow, we have launched two fundraising challenges for the community to take part in, to raise vital funds for our Hospice.

Lillie Winterbottom, the Hospice’s Community Engagement Team Leader explained: “This year we’ve launched two challenges, to give the community more ways to support us. You could experience the thrill of freefall with a tandem sky dive or scale the heights of the Yorkshire Three Peaks and each challenge will give you the opportunity to fundraise to support patient care at the Hospice.”

Sign up now for the Dr Kershaw’s Tandem Sky Dive taking place on Sunday 19th June 2022 and experience the thrill of freefall from up to 15,000ft. Organised by Skydive Northwest, a tandem sky dive requires minimal training and is a popular choice for first time skydivers. In the safe hands of the instructor who flies and lands your tandem parachute, you canrelax and enjoy the stunning views of the Lake District. To register now, click here.

Last year’s Yorkshire 3 Peaks 24 mile hiking challenge saw the team cross the finish line in just under 12 hours with the walkers collectively raising nearly £7,000 for patient care at the Hospice. Leanne Price, Donor Stewardship Coordinator at the Hospice was one of three hikers who took part who work or volunteer at Dr Kershaw’s, she said: “I knew going into the walk that it was going to be extremely difficult, walking 24 flat miles is a challenge, never mind having to climb the 3 peaks too! I was proud to represent Dr Kershaw’s Hospice along with my fellow team walkers."

This year’s Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is taking place on Saturday 16th July 2022, and the 24-mile hill walk will take you to the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Qualified and experienced guides will be with you every step of the way and free training walks are available to help you prepare for the ups and downs of the day’s hiking in the beautiful heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
