Ann Weeks and husband, Andy are keen walkers in their local town, Ely, Cambridgeshire. When the pandemic began last year, a visitor started to join them on their evening 3km walks, later to be known as Bob the cat.
Ann explains: “The cat just started following us for each of our walks, he did the entire walk with us each night. We’ve since adopted him, called him Bob and signed him up with us for Dr Kershaw’s ‘Virtual Hospice Walk.’”
Ann has signed up to the walk in memory of a close friend who was cared for at the Hospice back in 2015, Terry Dye, the husband of one of Dr Kershaw’s staff members, Dr Trish Campbell. Having never been able to access previous physical Dr Kershaw’s events due to her location in Cambridgeshire, Ann felt the virtual event was the perfect opportunity to support the Hospice where Terry was cared for.
Ann, Andy and Bob will be completing their ‘Virtual Hospice Walk’ over two evenings in June, as Bob the cat is unable to walk further than 3km is one sitting.
