Ascot Ladies Day

On Thursday 16th June, The White Hart Inn at Lydgate was host once more to the Ascot Ladies Day event in aid of Dr Kershaw’s. The event run by Hospice supporter, Gill Bussey, started 17 years ago and was the 15th Ascot fundraising event to be held after the two year break due to Covid.

The event with 70 ladies in attendance, raised an incredible £3,000 to support patients at our Hospice, and was an action-packed day with welcome drinks, a meal, guessing the Royal’s outfit colour, a prize for the best hat followed by live streaming of the Ascot races with a bookmaker present to take bets along with afternoon tea.

Organiser Gill said: “I started the event 17 years ago with the wife of Dr Kevin Moore who worked at the Hospice and it just grew and grew. This year’s event took place on a beautiful, sunny day, it was only the third time we’ve had a sunny day. It was fantastic, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, and we see people attending year after year which is so lovely. We had less people attending this year, so I’m thrilled we raised £3,000 for the Hospice, as I had hoped for £1,000 so what was raised was so wonderful!”
