When PE Teacher and Hospice Volunteer, Becky Crawford, 26, signed up for Dr Kershaw’s ‘Move it March’ challenge, she never imagined that she would receive community wide support with her fundraising hitting over £2,500 for patient care at the Hospice.
Becky set her own physical challenge of running 5km each day in March with an initial fundraising target of £155, £1 for every km ran, to raise money for the Hospice who cared for her Dad.
Keeping her promise to her supporters by doing her final 5km in dinosaur fancy dress, Becky said: “I went through phases of enjoying the challenge, being in horrible pain and lacking motivation but seeing the donations increasing and people running with me really kept me going. It’s hard to put into words what it means to have raised so much for a cause so important to me. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my friends, family and strangers who donated. If you’re thinking of doing a similar challenge, just go for it, even on the days when you don’t want to do it, knowing the difference you’ll make will motivate you.”
