Dr Kershaw’s recently held our annual Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge, with 17 fundraisers coming together to raise funds for the Hospice. The 24 mile hiking challenge, took place on Saturday 17 July, one of the hottest days of the year so far. The challenge which is difficult at the best of times saw the team cross the finish line in blistering heat in under 12 hours with the walkers collectively raising over £5,000 for patient care at the Hospice.
Joanne Sloan, Hospice CEO said: “What a fantastic achievement – and under such gruelling conditions, the team all have my total admiration! Thank you for your courage and commitment to Dr Kershaw’s, you are all truly amazing!”
Leanne Price, Donor Stewardship Coordinator at the Hospice was one of three hikers who took part who work or volunteer at Dr Kershaw’s, she said: “I knew going into the walk that it was going to be extremely difficult, walking 24 flat miles is a challenge, never mind having to climb the 3 peaks too! I was proud to represent Dr Kershaw’s Hospice along with my fellow team walkers."
