After Jenny Brierley sadly lost her brother, Mark Brierley in March 2020, she applied to work at Dr Kershaw’s after seeing the outstanding care he received from our team. Following her appointment as a Health Care Assistant for The Caring Hands service, which cares for patients across the community, Jenny decided to sign up to the Great Manchester 10K which took place in May, to raise funds to further support our Hospice.
Jenny explained: “Mark received such amazing care from the Hospice at Home Team, which made me want to work at Dr Kershaw’s. They made him feel comfortable and reassured us as a family, I signed up for the 10K to raise funds to help others as he was helped. The run went really well; I didn't have one ounce of nerves. I was so excited and proud to be running for Dr Kershaw’s in memory of my brother. Even other runners running next to me took the time to say what an amazing cause I'm doing this for. When we had finished I was quite emotional as I was doing it for my brother, but also I've wanted to do some kind of fundraiser for Dr Kershaw’s as a thank you and for me to give something back to them! I loved doing the run and unbelievably had a surge of energy once finished and could have done it all again!”
Jenny’s 10K run raised an amazing £650 which will now support other patients across the community as her brother was supported.
