In recognition of a lifetime of service and dedication to the Crown and the nation by his HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, The Mark Benevolent Fund, which is the charity arm of the Mark Degree of Freemasonry, invited every Mark Lodge in England and Wales to nominate a hospice within their Province to receive a donation of £1,000. With overall donations totalling an amazing £1.25m, Dr Kershaw's was honoured to have been nominated by seven local lodges and was presented with a cheque for £7,000.
Joanne Sloan, Dr Kershaw’s Chief Executive said: "The support Freemasonry gives to hospices is outstanding, we are so grateful to every Lodge who has chosen our Hospice, and to The Mark Benevolent Fund for making such an enormous contribution to patient care."
