Dad of two, Martin Foster, completed an epic challenge running 100 miles over four days - visiting ten local hospices including Dr Kershaw’s on his route to raise awareness and valuable funds for the specialist care they provide.

Martin works as programme lead for GM Hospices, and his job means he is all too aware of the invaluable role hospices play in caring for patients at the end of their lives.

He said: “Hospices rely heavily on their communities fundraising, and having worked so closely with them I just had to put my trainers on and do my bit to support them. When I was tired and beginning to struggle, hearing the ping of the 'GoFundMe' app on my phone - telling me that I had just received another donation - brought me right back to why I was doing it. The money raised will support the care of patients and families in all corners of Greater Manchester; there's no greater motivation than that!”

Louise Henderson, Dr Kershaw’s Marketing and Communications Manager added: “Martin’s role is to promote collaboration between the hospices and what better way than a 100-mile running challenge between them all! The funds he has raised will make such a difference to our patients and to patients at the other Hospice’s too!”
