Tomorrow, 22nd April marks 52 years since Earth Day first began, highlighting to people across the globe the importance of being eco-friendly and taking care of the planet. With three charity shops and a furniture store across the borough, Dr Kershaw’s took a moment to celebrate Earth Day, and the benefits of sustainable fashion brought from selling second hand goods in their stores.
Rebecca Bentham, Director of Income Development and Marketing said: “The fashion industry contributes to 8.1% of greenhouse gases and it is estimated that by 2030 there will be 148 million tons of fashion waste, but there are things that we can all do to help. By shopping in our charity shops not only are you helping to make the world a better place, you are also helping to support patient care in your local community as all proceeds from the shops go to our Hospice.”
