When Amanda Saunders, 59, from Uppermill, signed up for Dr Kershaw’s Virtual Hospice Walk, she never anticipated that as a Hospice Lottery member, she would be celebrating a Lottery win at the same time.
Amanda explains: “The Hospice at Home Team looked after my mum and were absolutely fantastic, we couldn’t have asked for better care! After mum passed away I signed up to the Lottery to support the Hospice, and this year myself and five others signed up to the Virtual Hospice Walk to raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s. The day before the walk, an envelope from the Hospice arrived and I just assumed it was about the walk, but when I opened it, it was such a nice surprise, and I decided to donate my winnings back to the Hospice as part of our sponsorship total. Dr Kershaw’s Lottery is such a great cause, it’s a good way to donate plus there’s the chance to win something. The amount is so small I don’t even notice it coming out of my account.”
