"You Looked After Paul with Dignity and Gave us Both Comfort!"

Paul Ford, was only 47 when he was admitted to Dr Kershaw’s In-Patient Unit in June 2015, and was only in the Hospice for two days before he sadly died. His wife, Wendy will forever remember the care, support and comfort that Paul, their son, Joe and herself got from the Hospice team.

Wendy explained: “Paul was the loveliest person, not only was he my husband he was my best friend and made me laugh every day. Paul loved working, we owned our own glass business and when he wasn't working, he loved fishing and watching rugby.

When Paul became poorly, we were all devastated, and eventually had to have the heart-breaking conversation about his end-of -life care. Ideally, Paul wanted to stay at home and not go into hospital but we decided the Hospice was the best place for him. The doctors and nurses looked after Paul and me too, with dignity, and helped to manage his pain so he wasn't distressed. To sit and watch the man you love, who was always the life and soul, die is horrendous, but the care we both received filled me with a little comfort so a big thank you, I can’t ever thank the Hospice team enough!

Paul and I would have celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary on 14th September last year, it was a very sad day without the love of my life, and he will forever be in my thoughts.”
