Kershaw's Caring Hands is designed to work alongside and in addition to any current services provided by the District Nursing Team, the Macmillan/Specialist Palliative Care Nurses and Dr Kershaw's Hospice at Home Team.
Our vision it to support our local community when they need it the most by ensuring that our clients and their loved ones receive excellent care in their own homes.
Our team of specially chosen and trained health care assistants and care givers visit clients in their own homes to provide quality and individualised care that is flexible and responsive to the needs of the client and their loved ones.
To access this service the client would need to be registered with an Oldham GP and have Continuing Health Care funding in place following a medical/nursing agreement. It is this funding that will cover the costs of providing care.
Our Caring Hand's health care assistants and care givers are available between the hours of 7am and 10pm working in teams of two to provide and assist with personal care, medication prompting and/or administration of medication, comfort positional changes, toileting, diet and hydration and emotional support.
Out of Hours Services
Our night sitting service is provided by an experienced health care assistant or care giver between the hours of 10pm and 7am for those clients and loved ones who need extra support.
The night sitting service is designed to enable family members to take a break from their caring duties and to get a good night's sleep, in the knowledge that their loved one is being closely monitored and cared for. This service is subject to availability.
